Osaa’s Reverse Scale

After her foster father turns into a serpent monster and dies, Nokhee is taken in by a noble household. Overnight she becomes a treasured young lady, but in truth she’s nothing more than a charmabsorbing servant meant to ward off misfortune. The only one who allows her a breath of relief is Kiju, a servant boy suffering the same fate. But Nokhee’s life grows increasingly miserable, and she eventually learns that the family heirloom she swallowed is actually Kiju’s reversed scale — the one taboo that can set him off. “Can’t you take these disgusting things back?” No matter how she thinks about it, Kiju has done nothing wrong. So Nokhee decides to get him out of this hell. “Haa, my lady. Hold onto the pillar, lift your skirts, and put them in your mouth.” Original Webtoon: Ridibooks, Naver Series
